About the role:

We are seeking an experienced individual who has a demonstrated understanding of commercial irrigation design, installation and management techniques. The role assists the Coordinator Parks in the effective and efficient management of the Parks irrigation systems in accordance with agreed performance targets.

 

This role requires an individual who will play a crucial role in leading and supporting a team with day-to-day operations and effectively prioritising workloads to meet deadlines ensuring the City’s objectives are met.

 

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Formulating irrigation maintenance programmes and work schedules.
  • Monitoring the condition of landscaped and turf areas to determine irrigation requirements.
  • Supervising, training and performance management of staff.
  • Overseeing and monitoring compliance by contractors.
  • Providing various reports to Management including recommendations.
  • Ensuring all irrigation systems operate within the confines of water restrictions and licence conditions.
  • Ensuring irrigation assets are managed in accordance with the relevant asset management plan.
  • Implementing multiple capital irrigation projects.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Possession of, or significant progress towards a Certificate IV in Irrigation, or a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Good written communication skills, including the ability to undertake relevant research and write associated reports.
  • Proven supervisory skills with well-developed organisational and administrative skills, with experience in budget preparation and management.
  • Excellent Interpersonal, conflict resolution negotiation skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • Computer applications and in particular the Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) and exposure to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
